M1935 Luftwaffe "Over-Paint" German Helmet

This is a really interesting and unusual M1935 Luftwaffe German helmet.  This WWII Luftwaffe German helmet retains around 95% of what appears to be a field applied field gray over-paint.   The rear of the helmet has an early green paint along the rear of the helmet.  It appears that something was glued to the back side when the helmet received the field gray over-paint.  The are remnants of possibly what was a neck flap.  A possible theory is it may have been used as a Luftwaffe fire brigade at an airfield.  It's really hard to speculate as to why the paint is the way it is, but the over-paint seems consistent with period field gray over-paints.  Overall, the helmet has a nice patina.  The Split pin rivets appear are original to the helmet.  This German helmet has the correct single banded M1931 liner.  The liner band is dated 1940 and was a wartime refit, which is fairly common with M35s.  The liner appears to size 58.  The liner leather is in good overall condition but is missing the drawstring.  The original chinstrap is present but it is broken and in poor condition.  The helmet began its life as a double decal as both are underneath the over-paint.  The helmet is a desirable Q66 indicating manufacture by the FW Quist firm in Esslingen, Germany.   The lot number is 3589 indicating a fairly early produced M1935.  This helmet comes direct from a Vet family in Maryland.  I am trying to obtain the information of the vet at the present time.  As with all our WWII German helmets, this M1935 Luftwaffe German helmet comes with our Lifetime Guarantee and Certificate of Authenticity.

M1940 Luftwaffe Two Color "Normandy" Camouflaged Single Decal German Helmet - Named

This is really nice looking M1940 SD Luftwaffe Two Color "Normandy" Camouflaged German helmet.  The helmet retains around 70% of the original camouflaged paint.  The colors are tan and dark red and have been seen on camouflaged helmets in the Normandy campaign during 1944.  There is typical wear and paint loss in the dome area and around the exterior of the helmet.  The Split pin rivets are fully intact.  The heads of the rivets are devoid of paint, and are possibly replacement pins.  This German helmet has the correct steel banded M1931 liner.   The liner band is size 58 and is dated 1940.  The liner leather is in good  condition but does appear to have been treated with a leather conditioner.  The original drawstring present and is in good condition.  I believe that there's a possibility that this liner was placed in the helmet during the post war years, therefore we make no representations on the liner being original to the helmet.  The chinstrap is a mid to late war pigskin type and is in fair condition.   The long end of the strap is broken.  The decal has quite a bit of wear and is nicely peeking through the camouflaged paint.  The helmet is an ET66 indicating manufacture by the Eisenhuttenwerke firm in Thale, Germany.  The lot number is 1287.  The inner skirt is named to Obergefreiter Podiwin.  As with all our WWII German helmets, this M1940 Luftwaffe DAK German helmet comes with our Lifetime Guarantee and Certificate of Authenticity.

M1935 Luftwaffe Two Color Camouflaged German Helmet

This is an authentic M1935 Luftwaffe Camouflaged German helmet.  This is certainly a piece that did not sit out the war!  This WWII Luftwaffe German helmet retains around 40-50% of the field applied camouflaged paint.   The camo paint is tan and green.   The helmet also appears to have had a field gray over-paint before the camouflaged paint.   The exterior displays quite a bit of paint loss as a result of heavy field use especially in the dome area.   The Split pin rivets are original to the helmet and fully intact.  This German helmet has the correct M1931 reinforced aluminum liner and is dated 1938 and is size 54.  The liner leather is in good overall condition with the original drawstring being present.  There is a name written in the leather but it's not legible.  The helmet has a 1939 dated chinstrap.   The strap has red dye which is typical of straps reissued to Norway during the post war years.  Apparently the strap has been added to the helmet during the post war years.  The early first pattern Luftwaffe decal is peeking out from under the camo paint in areas.   The National Colors decal is present and also peeking through the camo paint.  The helmet is an ET62 indicating manufacture by the Eisenhuttenwerke firm in Thale, Germany.   The lot number is 3655.  The mysterious "S" is stamped above the lot number.   This has been seen on a number of early ET helmets.   I am not sure what this S represented.  Overall, just a great looking, "been there, done that" Luftwaffe Camouflaged helmet.  As with all our WWII German helmets, this M1935 Luftwaffe German helmet comes with our Lifetime Guarantee and Certificate of Authenticity.
